In a recent interview, former CIA station chief Dan Hoffman expressed his frustration with President Biden's handling of Iran and the lack of deterrence against Iran's proxies. Hoffman, who served three years overseas in war zones alongside the US military, emphasized the importance of counter-attacking and hitting the Houthis at their launch sites and networks to achieve effective deterrence.
Highlighting the current situation in the region, Hoffman pointed out that the enemy is able to strike with impunity while the US is merely focused on self-defense. He voiced concerns that it may take US servicemen suffering casualties for the necessary policy approval to be granted. Hoffman firmly believed that the intelligence capabilities exist, but policy approval is lacking.
