Biden, visiting U.S. West, designates national monument in Colorado

President Joe Biden on Wednesday declared a rugged, mountainous section of Colorado that American soldiers used to train for combat in World War Two a national monument during his first stop on a tour of the U.S. West.

Biden signed a proclamation establishing the Camp Hale-Continental Divide National Monument to protect the 53,804-acre (21,770-hectare) area during a ceremony at the site. It was the first national monument declaration of his presidency.
