Biden Campaign Releases TV Ad Criticizing Trump On Abortion

U.S. President Joe Biden delivers remarks, during a campaign event focusing on abortion rights at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, in Manassas

The Biden campaign has launched a new TV ad targeting former President Donald Trump on the issue of abortion rights, coinciding with the two-year anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. The ad features a testimonial from Kaitlyn Joshua, a Louisiana woman who shares her harrowing experience of being turned away from two emergency rooms while experiencing a miscarriage at 11 weeks of pregnancy. Joshua attributes her ordeal to Trump's actions in overturning Roe v. Wade and criticizes him for his stance on the issue.

In the ad, Joshua is seen stating, 'He's now a convicted felon,' as an image of Trump in court flashes on the screen. She accuses Trump of shirking accountability for his criminal actions while advocating for punitive measures against women and doctors. Trump was convicted in May on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records and is awaiting sentencing next month.

Joshua expresses her support for President Biden, emphasizing the importance of having a leader who prioritizes the best interests of women. She is scheduled to appear alongside second gentleman Doug Emhoff at an event in Michigan to mark the second anniversary of Roe v. Wade's reversal.

The 30-second ad underscores the campaign's focus on rallying key voter demographics, particularly young and female voters crucial to Biden's reelection prospects. This marks the second instance of Biden's campaign leveraging Trump's felony conviction in its advertising efforts. The ad is set to air on television and internet-connected TV in battleground states, as well as on national cable, as part of the campaign's $50 million ad campaign in June.
