Bidding war: combat shipbuilder receives another offer

Australia's largest shipbuilder has confirmed it received an offer from an investment firm to buy its entire US operations.

Wildcat Infrastructure - a US company backed by a family of private investors - had made an offer between $US1.3 billion and $US1.4 billion to buy Austal's shipyard in the US state of Alabama, the Perth-based company said.
