BHOPAL: Thrice married and suspended for allegedly concealing information about his second wife from the government, a panchayat secretary in Madhya Pradesh's Singrauli district has bigger trouble at hand - who to vote for, as two of his wives are contesting against each other. The third wife is in the electoral fray, too, but for a different post, saving him from a 'trilemma'.
Two wives of Sukhram Singh - Kusum Kali and Geeta Singh - are contesting against each other for the post of sarpanch of Piparkhad village in Deosar Janpad, around 13km from Singrauli town and 670km from Bhopal. His 'third wife', Urmila, who he insists is a live-in partner, is contesting for the post of janpad panchayat member from Pedra, another village in the same tehsil.
This bizarre family drama was revealed when the MP government asked panchayat officials to provide information regarding their relatives who are contesting the elections. Sukhram provided information regarding Kusum Kali and Urmila but did not inform about Geeta, say officials. All three women have named Sukhram Singh as their husband in the election affidavits. A notice was served on him and he was suspended on June 19.
