Bhavani Devi becomes first Indian fencer to win medal in Asian Championships, finishes with bronze

NEW DELHI: Olympian Bhavani Devi on Monday scripted history becoming the first Indian fencer to secure a Asian Championships medal. The 29-year-old settled for a bronze after losing in the semi-final of women's sabre event at the Asian Fencing Championships in Wuxi, China.

Bhavani lost to Uzbekistan's Zaynab Dayibekova 14-15 in a hard-fought semis.
