MUMBAI: Bharat Army, a global group of Indian cricket supporters, has backed Team India left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh, who has been the target of abuse and criticism from many people on social media after he dropped a catch in the closing stages of India's five-wicket defeat to Pakistan on Sunday in the ongoing Asia Cup in UAE.
"Cricket is and will always be a team sport where you win and lose as a team. As the #12thMan of the Indian Cricket Team we absolutely condemn those 'so called fans' who have taken to social media to abuse Arshdeep Singh or any other India Cricket player for their performances," Rakesh Patel, the founder of the Bharat Army, told TOI from London.
The Bharat Army has urged India's cricket fans to "stand by" Team India after the Rohit Sharma-led side crashed out of the Asia Cup post back-to-back defeats to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Dubai.
Tweeting a statement in support of the Indian team Thursday morning, the Bharat Army said: "Oficially out of the #AsiaCup2022 after back to back losses in the Super 4's BUT lets's not forget the amazing run we've been on since the last #T20WorldCup. This is a team with a lot of experience, a team with a clear identity that's been built over time and a team that's very much togther. To succed you must at times take risks, be brave and be prepared to fail-this team is on a journey and we urge all the Indian cricket fans to stand by our captain, coach and ALL our players who represent the country. We the Bharat Army wil always support our #TeamIndia win, lose or draw!#Bharat Army#Believe in Blue#COTI."
