BGT winner Viggo Venn misses ITV Lorraine interview as presenter provides update

Fresh from being crowned winner of Britain's Got Talent 2023, comedian Viggo Venn was due to appear on ITV's Lorraine on Tuesday, June 6 but was forced to pull out due to feeling unwell.

It would have been the first live TV interview for the Norweigian comedian, who won over BGT viewers with his high-energy routines and high-vis yellow jacket, taking home £250,000 and bagging a spot on the bill at The Royal Variety Performance.

Announcing he would be stopping by the Lorraine studio on Tuesday at the beginning of the week, Lorraine Kelly tweeted: "SO excited to say @ViggoVenn is joining @reallorraine live for his first TV interview tomorrow morning." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.

However, the 63-year-old Scottish host confirmed just a day later that Viggo Venn would not be making it after all. Lorraine said: "Now, Viggo was supposed to be joining me in the studio this morning . Unfortunately, he's not feeling too chipper. Hopefully, we'll see him later on." As a clip played of him on the final of BGT, she added: "Look at the energy of the man. He needs a wee rest."

His win, however, received a mixed reaction as, upon his victory being announced, several members of the audience booed the Norweigian funny man. Picking up on this, some viewers took to Twitter to defendViggo.

One said: "Very surprised. But Viggo was very funny. Very distasteful for anyone to boo Viggo. Not his fault he won, people voted for him, not anyone else. Made it a sour end thanks to the audience reaction. Well done, Viggo!!! #BritainsGotTalent #BGT2023 #bgt."

Another added: "Quit the booing ffs grow up how old are you he won fair and square !!! #BGT" "Incredibly rude of the crowd to be booing @ViggoVenn for winning, it was literally a public vote and he won #BGT," a third added.

Viggo Venn is yet to comment on his absence from the Lorraine show, which airs weekdays at 9am on ITV1.
