Britain’s Got Talent fans believe they spotted how magician Junwoo did his sleight of hand trick, as many were left congratulating him on a “supernatural” performance.
The ITV judging panel of Amanda Holden alongside Simon Cowell, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon were back as the auditions for the hit talent show continued.
The 23-year-old South Korean magician told the audience after he took to the stage that he had travelled almost 20 hours from his home country just for the audition.
Junwoo said he had decided to embark on a career as a magician and enter the ITV talent competition after watching clips of previous magicians on the show on YouTube.
Junwoo started his act by taking Alesha Dixon's sunglasses and making them vanish, before he whipped out a seemingly never-ending number of cards in routine set to DNCE’s hit 'Cake by the Ocean'.
The judges were left open-mouthed at the routine, which ended with him creating a box from the cards, which held Alesha's sunglasses and when he finished, the judges leapt up to give him a standing ovation.
David praised his routine as a "whole new way of presenting magic", while Amanda called his sleight of hand "impeccable".
ITV viewers took to Twitter to praise Junwoo’s performance, with one writing: “Magicians on BGT make me question everything including the earth's existence at this point, HOW DO THEY DO IT.”
Another wrote: “How do these magicians do it oh my god I swear Junwoo was supernatural.”
Fellow fans also speculated about how Junwoo had accomplished the trick, with one writing: “Magician needs to use smaller cards so we don't clearly see them in his hand, and make it less glaringly obvious when he's taking more from his sleeves.”
Another posted: “They’re talking like they’ve never seen magicians do sleight of hands tricks,” as a fellow viewer wrote: “Magicians have done this for years, but with doves.”
But after the final Golden Buzzer was pressed by Alesha Dixon for musical duo Flintz & Taylor later in the show, many ITV fans were left calling for him to be given the golden award to fastrack him to the live shows.
One wrote: “No offence to the hip hop duo, they were great, but the Korean magician was robbed of that golden buzzer act.”
Another agreed, posting: “Sorry but that Korean magician was robbed, should’ve got the golden buzzer he was outstanding.”
A fellow fan slammed the decision as a “fix”, saying: “A brilliant magician, a great dance group and Alesha never had any intention of doing the right thing. As fixed as it could be.”
Another agreed, posting: “The magician was better and deserved a golden buzzer.”
