Beyond Paradise first look as character makes surprise return in Death In Paradise spin-off

Beyond Paradise will see a big character return on the BBC show this evening.

In an exclusive first look clip shared with the Mirror Online, DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and his colleague DS Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi) can be seen heading to a farm shop as they begin their investigations into the death of a man found in a crop circle.

What's more mysterious about the death is that the man has no markings or injuries on his body, and there are no signs of a struggle or no idea who he is, leaving the team quite puzzled.

The pair have heard reports of flashing lights in the sky, and Humphrey is wondering if aliens could be to blame, but Esther isn't sure that's a possibility to explain the death. After they discover a torn-out page of a Charles Dickens book in the man's sock, will this help them identify him or does it just add to the mystery that face the pair?

Meanwhile, there is an emergency services call which is tracked to North Farm, where the crop circle is located. It only fuels speculation the farm owners (John Hollingworth and Ingrid Oliver) might actually have a connection with the man.

Elsewhere, in his personal life, Humphrey rushes to be with Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) at the fertility clinic, but she is left distracted when her café is reviewed by a critic. Is she stopping herself from making a big decision?

In the exclusive clip, Humphrey and Esther can be seen heading to a farm shop where they discuss crop circles found in the field, whilst there's also an appearance from Chris Jenks, who first appeared in episode one.

Kris Marshall previously revealed there's one thing Humphrey really misses from Saint Marie.

Sharing what he thinks Humphrey misses most, he said: "Well, he does miss Harry the lizard, of course. But maybe there's a new Harry the lizard in Beyond Paradise… Who's not called Harry, and isn't a lizard!"

Earlier this series, Humphrey decided to name a duck after his old boss, calling the bird Selwyn, adding: "He needed a name and rather strangely, I found myself missing the commissioner. This will soften the blow a little."
