Beyond millennial cynics and hopefuls, the grand Gen Z debut

When Abhijeet Dipke announced that the Cockroach Janta Party would be undertaking a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar site starting June 20, 2026, there was a fair amount of optimism among a small section of liberal millennials who are critical of the BJP.

Whatever ground it had ceded in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, it more than made up for it by not just winning key states of Maharashtra, Haryana, Bihar, Delhi and, most recently, West Bengal. It wasn’t just winning states where it was expected to be challenged; it also co-opted or broke a whole gallery of regional political parties along the way.
