Beyoncé has made history by becoming the first Black woman to reach the top of Billboard's country music chart. Her latest single, “Texas Hold 'Em,” claimed the No. 1 spot on the country airplay chart this week. Released on Feb. 11, alongside another single titled '16 Carriages,' the songs are expected to be part of Beyoncé's upcoming country-themed album, known as “act ii,” set for release on March 29. This album serves as a follow-up to her 2022 release, “Renaissance,” often referred to as “Act I: Renaissance.”
The announcement of Beyoncé's new album came after a Verizon commercial featuring the artist aired during the Super Bowl earlier this month. Notably, Beyoncé is the first woman to achieve the top position on both the Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts since their inception in 1958. Prior to Beyoncé, only Justin Bieber, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Ray Charles had managed to top both charts.
