The Elder Scrolls community is mourning the loss of Bethesda content creator Mackenzie Rowles, widely known as Camelworks, and fans are calling for Bethesda to add a tribute to Rowles in The Elder Scrolls 6.
Rowles, known for his extraordinarily detailed guides to The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Starfield lore on YouTube, died on Sunday, March 15 of unknown causes at the age of 33. Just a day later, a Change petition has attracted 766 verified signatures and counting at the time of writing.
"Camelworks was not just a content creator; he was a beacon of knowledge and passion for the Elder Scrolls series," says petition starter Liam Martin. "Through his gameplay tutorials, lore discussions, and in-depth analyses, he helped countless gamers delve deeper into the world of Tamriel, expanding their appreciation and understanding of this beloved universe."
Over on Reddit, the Elder Scrolls community is discussing the petition, with the vast majority in agreement that Rowles' contributions warrant a tribute in the Elder Scrolls 6. One commenter echoes Martin in pointing out that a similar effort was successful in convincing Bethesda to add the famous Skyrim grandma to the Elder Scrolls 6 back in 2019.
"The guy raised millions of skybabies with his guides, the least they can do is a shrine," writes another commenter.
"The Elder Scrolls VI presents a unique opportunity for Bethesda Game Studios to honor Camelworks's dedication and contributions to the fan community," reads the petition. "By memorializing him within the game, whether through an in-game character, location, book, weapon or subtle reference, the developers could celebrate his invaluable influence and ensure his legacy endures within the world he loved to explore.
"This form of appreciation would not only acknowledge Camelworks's work but also demonstrate the powerful connection between developers, content creators, and the communities that bring these worlds to life. His passion helped deepen the experience of The Elder Scrolls for many players, and an in-game tribute would be a meaningful way to recognize that impact."
Rowles uploaded his first YouTube video in February 2014 and would continue uploading content until 2025. His most popular videos have millions of views and provide analysis of lore, characters, weapons and armor, and Easter eggs.
"To fellow fans and players who were inspired by Camelworks's insight and enthusiasm, your support in this effort is essential," reads the petition. "Let's come together to celebrate his legacy and respectfully encourage Bethesda to immortalize his contribution to the Elder Scrolls community.
"Rest in peace, Camelworks. Your legacy will live on."
