Bethesda failing to release a new Fallout game to capitalize on the success of the TV show felt like a "personal" decision, says New Vegas writer, not a "business" one

Not releasing a new Fallout game alongside the popular Amazon Prime TV show might seem like a missed opportunity, but Obsidian Entertainment co-founder and Fallout: New Vegas writer Chris Avellone reckons the decision was likely a "personal" one for the devs.

It's now been over a decade since Fallout 4, so to say fans have been patiently waiting for the next mainline entry would be an understatement. Thankfully, Bethesda has now revealed the tiniest glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel with confirmation that Fallout 5 is "currently in preproduction," albeit with The Elder Scrolls 6 remaining the team's priority.
