'Beth Mead on flames!' - Ian Wright and England fans stunned as Lionesses run rampant vs Norway

England fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing as the Lionesses destroyed Norway in an incredible first half in the Women’s Euro 2022!

The hosts went into the second group game in Brighton knowing victory would take them through to the quarter-finals. Few though could have expected what was to come from Sarina Wiegman’s side.

The Lionesses ran rampant as they hit their opponents for six, becoming the first team to score six goals in a single half at the European Championships.

Georgia Stanway opened the scoring from the penalty spot, before Lauren Hemp made it 2-0 after some superb work from Beth Mead, who was a constant thorn in the side of Norway. Ellen White grabbed her first of the evening just before the half-hour mark to all-but secure the victory.

They weren’t done there though, with Mead getting her reward for her performance with a superb double, including a brilliant solo effort to make it 5-0. And four minutes before the break, White added her own second to cap off an incredible 45 minutes.

It left fans watching on stunned as the Lionesses ran riot against a side expected to pose a major threat. Fans – and Arsenal legend Ian Wright – revelled in the masterclass on social media.

England’s rampant display all-but secures their spot in the quarter-finals. The Lionesses become the first side to book their place in the knockout stages as they aim to go all the way to Wembley on July 31.
