Arsenal and England Lioness Beth Mead has been announced as McDonald’s Fun Football ambassador as she surprised a group of children at a McDonald’s Fun Football session in Vauxhall. The star of the summer took time out of her busy pre-season schedule to open the new centre, The Black Prince Community Hub.
The England hero was on hand to show attendees her skills and pass on advice to the young budding footballers at the new Vauxhall location. The centre will host eight sessions this wave allowing up to 192 children to play football completely for free.
This Autumn McDonald’s will provide Free Fun Football sessions to over 30,000 children aged 5-11 of all abilities across England. Since its re-launch in May, the Fun Football programme has continued to grow, including a 60% increase in girls signing up following an exciting summer for the Lionesses, as more children than ever are inspired to play.
As a result, McDonald’s has added additional locations this Autumn to ensure more children than ever before have the opportunity to play. Over 17,000 hours of Free Fun Football will be made available across more than 200 centres – including 17 new locations opening across the country to reduce the distance that children and parents have to travel to attend the free sessions.

Beth said: “Everyone plays football better with a smile on their faces and these McDonald’s sessions make sure everyone has fun. It’s great to see kids enjoying their football no matter their ability. I play my best football when I feel free and that showed over the Euros.
Hopefully these new sessions get plenty of sign ups and it’s important to get as many children as possible playing the game.”
