Former Scotland international and current talkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil has said "you bet your life" that Dennis Bergkamp meant to score his iconic goal against Newcastle United at St James' Park 21 years ago.
To this day, the debate over whether or not Bergkamp intended to spin past Nikos Dabizas before calmly tucking the ball into the corner refuses to go away. It has been more than two decades since the Dutchman produced the moment of magic and the goal will forever go down in Premier League history.
The Arsenal great has insisted that he meant every moment of it and talkSPORT host Brazil could not help but agree with Bergkamp as he debated the strike against Newcastle with co-host Ally McCoist 21 years on.

‘We’re looking back at one of the greatest ever Premier League goals and whether Dennis Bergkamp meant it,' Brazil told talkSPORT. "You bet your life he meant it.
"Certain players can do that and mean it, other players do that and they are lucky. I remember at the time saying he meant it."
McCoist however wasn't convinced, as he remembered doubting his intentions all those years ago. He said: “I wasn’t sure. I mean, it’s genius. He [Bergkamp] came out and said he meant it and that’ll do for me. But when I saw it I thought [whether he meant it or not] – and it’s funny because Gary Lineker said the same thing, that he wasn’t sure whether he meant it.
"You’ve got to say, if there’s one player in the world capable of doing it, it’s him. And he came out and said he meant it and that will do for me, it was. Brilliant."
“See I think that was better than Gazza’s goal against us [Scotland] at Wembley," Brazil replied.
"Do you?" McCoist said. "I don’t know. I tell you, I thought Dennis’ goal against Argentina was even better. Remember the one in the 1998 World Cup where he takes a touch, comes back inside and smashes it right across – I thought that goal was [better].”
