Best weird and wacky Easter eggs

Easter is early this year, with the four-day weekend taking place from Good Friday (March 29) until April 1, which will be Easter Monday.

While there are still a few weeks to go until the first long weekend of the year, the hunt is well and truly on for 2024’s clutch of incredible Easter eggs.

Like Christmas, Easter is exciting for all ages. All-day gorging on mountains of chocolate eggs, hot cross buns, herb-crusted lamb racks, and carrot-themed foods is one of the best ways to celebrate the occasion and is a big signifier that spring has arrived. After the winter we’ve had, who isn’t looking forward to that?

There are plenty of Easter eggs to delight, no matter your taste or requirements. For children, eggs tend to be of the milk chocolate variety with a special treat squirrelled away inside, while vegans are well-catered for with plenty of free-from designs that let them join in the hunt.

Whether you’re looking for a chocolatey confection for friends, family or just to feast on yourself, there’s plenty of choice out there. Really, who needs the Easter Bunny anyway?

If this year is the one you want to push the boat out with a showstopper to anchor your Easter feasting table, say hello to the UK’s weirdest and wonderful Easter eggs.

From elegant orbs of chocolate and hand-painted eggs that belong on an art gallery plinth to eggs made from cheese instead of chocolate, there are gourmet creations designed to leave you gobsmacked in awe, rubbing your hands with glee or reaching for your phone to show off - as we must with all clever little morsels we’re about to shove in our gobs - on your socials. The best eggs will have you doing all three.

Get ready to dive in and shop our list of the wildest Easter eggs to buy before they sell out.

A game of two halves, the thick shell is made up of solid caramel-milk chocolate with notes of dulce de leche and 40 per cent milk chocolate with cookie pieces, puffed rice and crispy feuilletine. Mouth watering yet? Us too.

If that's not enough, the egg comes with a selection box of delectable 20 premium truffles, pralines, caramels, and patisserie chocolates.

There is a vegan option also available.
