A new season of Warzone 2 brings with it a brand new meta for loadouts and weapons, thanks to some long-awaited weapon re-balancing.
Warzone 2 Season 2 arrived with a bang last week, bringing with it a host of changes like the brand new Ashika Island map and a progress wipe for DMZ. Of course, a new update means new patch notes, Warzone 2 players hoped to see the RPK and the Fennec 45 nerfed, due to the two weapons absolutely dominating the Season 1 reloaded meta. It’s good news and bad news, even though both guns were nerfed, they’re still very strong in Season 2.
We've included tips from the Warzone loadout specialists over at warzoneloadout.games and wzstats.gg, along with some of our own experiences. Here are some of the best guns and loadouts for Season 2.
Best Warzone 2 guns and loadouts for Season 2
Sakin MG38 - Long Range Meta - LMG
Muzzle: ZLR Talon 5
Optic: Aim-OP V4
Underbarrel: Cronen WL55
Barrel: 20” Bruen Silver Series
Laser: FSS OLE-V laser
Warzoneloadout reckons the Sakin has replaced the dreaded RPK as the top dog of the long-range meta. It’s a beast thanks to the high damage output, but the reload speed may be a hindrance when it comes to Ashika Island's faster-paced gameplay.
RPK - Long Range Meta - LMG
Muzzle: ZLR Talon 5
Optic: Aim-OP V4
Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56
Ammunition: 7.62 High Velocity
Laser: FSS OLE-V laser
Even post-nerf, the RPK is an absolute beast for long-range meta, you won’t go wrong keeping this in your loadout.
TAQ-56 - Long Range Meta - AR
Muzzle: Harbinger D20
Optic: Aim-OP V4
Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56
Barrel: 17.5” Tundra Pro Barrel
Magazine: 60 Round Mag
For those not keen on LMG’s, we’ve taken to the TAQ-56 as our AR of choice, which offers a nice balance in Ashika Island and in Al Mazrah.
M13B - Long Range Meta - AR
Muzzle: Harbinger D20
Optic: SZ Vortex-90
Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56
Ammunition: 5.56 High Velocity
Magazine: 60 Round Mag
We don’t rate this quite as high as the TAQ-56, but it’s a solid alternative to that for a long-range AR.
MCPR-300 - Sniper Meta - Sniper
Muzzle: FTAC Reaper
Barrel: 22” OMX-456
Laser: FSS OLE-V Laser
Ammunition: .300 Incendiary
Stock: FSS Merc Stock
Loadout sites both agree this is the best choice for a Sniper in Warzone 2 (although we're more of a LMG person ourselves)
M4 - Sniper Support Meta - AR
Muzzle: Echoline GS-X
Optic: Cronen Mini Pro
Barrel: Hightower 20” Barrel
Underbarrel: FSS Sharkfin 90
Magazine: 45 Round Mag
While we don’t rate this in the Long Range meta compared to the M13B or the TAQ-56, it’s one of the best options to support a Sniper if you’ve replaced the disabled Birdseye perk with an Overkill build thanks to its mid-range capabilities.
Lachmann Sub - Close Range Meta - SMG
Muzzle: XRK Sandstorm
Laser: VLK LZR 7MW
Stock: LM Stockless MOD
Rear Grip: Lachmann TCG-10
Magazine: 40 Round Mag
While the Fennec has dropped in the close-range meta, the Lachmann has taken its place at the top. This is simply a must-use weapon in Resurgence, thanks to it's rapid time to kill.
How to get your loadout in Warzone 2 Season 2
Thankfully, Activision has changed up how loadout drops work in Season 2, making them more in line with the original Warzone.
Buy Stations - Buy stations have an unlimited stock of loadout drop markers, with the prices scaling depending on what game mode you play: $8000 for Solo, $16000 for Duos, $24000 for Trios, and $32000 for Quads.
Looting - You can occasionally find loadout markers while looting, this is extremely rare, however.
- Loadout Drop Events - During the first and fifth circle of each match a loadout drop will occur. As always, these are prime spot for getting kills as every player flocks to get their loadout for free.
