7 best TV shows streaming Nov 16-22 on Paramount Plus, Prime Video, Netflix and more

Mark Collie in Landman.

As the cold sets in, you're going to want to find a great new TV series to give you an excuse to keep warm behind the TV screen, and luckily there are loads of new TV shows streaming this week.

Every week I examine the new TV show line-up from each of the main streaming services to create a hand-picked list of the must-watch series. This week's list consists of new shows debuting on streaming platforms between Saturday, November 16 and Friday, November 22.

Most of the new TV shows streaming this week are new ones, which isn't something you can say every week, though we do have one returning series as well. Most of them are dramas but we've got two documentaries too: one crime and one about animals.

A broad range of streaming services are covered here too, to make sure you can find something to watch (though our guides to the best streaming deals, Apple TV Plus free trials and Prime Video trials may help you catch shows on other platforms).

So let's find you a new TV show streaming this week that you'll want to watch.

Landman — Paramount Plus

  • Paramount Plus drama debuts on Sunday, November 17

The latest series from TV powerhouse Taylor Sheridan is here in the form of Landman, which is his first new show this year after lots of second-seasons.

Landman looks at the working men and top-level tycoons of Texas who both have their lives changed when a new oil boom affects the country. It's based on a podcast called Boomtown and stars Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph and Demi Moore.

Two episodes of Landman will stream on Paramount Plus on Sunday, November 17, and each week a new episode will stream. That's the case in the US, but in most other countries you'll have to wait until the respective Mondays.

Dune: Prophecy — Max / Sky TV

  • Max / Sky TV sci-fi prequel arrives on Sunday, November 17

A prequel to the recent Dune and Dune: Part Two blockbusters, Dune: Prophecy is set 10,000 years before the movies, and is based on a novel written by Dune author Frank Herbert's son.

In Dune: Prophecy, we follow two sisters who need to protect humanity from a major threat, earlier in its spacefaring history than the Dune movies. In doing so they create a secretive sisterhood called the Bene Gesserit which could affect the galaxy's future too.

One episode of Dune: Prophecy will stream each week; they'll be on Max in the US every Sunday from Sunday, November 17 and on Sky TV and Now TV in the UK every Monday from Monday, November 18.

Making Manson — Peacock

  • Peacock true crime docuseries airs from Tuesday, November 19

If you're reading this entry, you probably already know who Charles Manson is. Peacock's new docuseries is another look at the deceased murderer.

Making Manson was created through interviews conducted with Manson over the last 20 years of his incarceration. In them he talks about his childhood, how he started in a life of crime and why he organized the famous series of killings that he's known for. If that makes it seem like this will simply be humanizing a murderer, the documentary also includes interviews with various people affected by his actions to balance it out.

There are three episodes of Making Manson and all will land on Peacock on Tuesday, November 19. There's no word on a release outside of the US.

Interior Chinatown — Hulu

  • Hulu crime drama drops in full on Tuesday, November 19
(Image credit: HuluJimmy O. Yang in Hul)

Hulu's latest crime drama is Interior Chinatown, starring comedian Jimmy O. Yang and based on a popular 2020 book.

Yang stars as Willis Wu, a man whose job is to work as a background actor in police TV shows. He's trying to make a break for the big time and his plans get turned on his head when he witnesses and investigates a crime, which may turn out to be very personal.

All ten episodes of Interior Chinatown will land on Hulu on Tuesday, November 19, and there's no word on a release outside of the US just yet.

Our Oceans — Netflix

  • Netflix nature documentary debuts on Wednesday, November 20

The latest entry into Netflix's "Our" series of nature documentaries is here in the form of Our Oceans, which is narrated by former US president Barack Obama.

In Our Oceans, Obama will introduce us to the various animals living... well, under the sea, the clue's in the name. Over the course of five episodes, we'll dive to different depths in the deep blue to witness the various creatures living under the water.

Cruel Intentions  — Prime Video

  • Prime Video drama series releases on Thursday, November 21

Prime Video's latest drama series Cruel Intentions is inspired by the 1999 movie of the same name (which itself was based on a 1780s novel), bringing it up to date for the 2020s and stretching it into eight episodes.

Cruel Intentions is about children at a competitive Washington D.C. college that's dominated by fraternity and sorority life. When someone is hazed so badly that it threatens to cause disarray to the existing system, two step-siblings hatch a plot to maintain their status at the top of the food chain.

All episodes of Cruel Intentions will release on Prime Video from Thursday, November 21.

Based on a True Story season 2 — Peacock

  • Peacock crime comedy series returns on Thursday, November 21

A crime comedy series from 2023 returns with Based on a True Story season 2, starring Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina.

Season 1 was about a couple which starts a true crime podcast and quickly finds themselves targeted by a criminal; in season two they've had a child and are trying to return to their normal lives. Then another string of murders begins and the couple struggles to avoid it all happening again.

All episodes of Based on a True Story season 2 will land on Peacock from Thursday, November 21, and we haven't heard any information on whether the show will stream outside of the US.
