All parents want to provide their children with the best education possible. When deciding which school to send their children to, many parents will consider the school's Ofsted rating.
Ofsted’s role is to make sure organisations providing education, training and care services in England do so to a high standard for children and students. Its graded inspections provide these settings with a rating of 'inadequate', 'requires improvement', 'good' or 'outstanding'.
These are the schools in the Bristol region that currently have the highest rating of 'outstanding', according to the watchdog's records. It should be noted that the rating is not necessarily a reflection of the existing provision, as many schools have not been inspected for several years.

Outstanding schools used to be exempt from routine inspection by legislation, with some left without inspection for more than a decade. However, the Department for Education removed the exemption in 2020 following concerns about potential changes in standards at those schools, with many since downgraded.
Its website states: "Between 15 May 2012 and 13 November 2020, maintained primary and secondary schools and academies judged to be outstanding in their overall effectiveness at their most recent section 5 inspection were exempt from routine inspections under section 5. These schools are now once again subject to routine inspections under section 5.
"This also applies to academy converter schools that were formerly exempt because the overall effectiveness of the predecessor school was outstanding at its most recent section 5 inspection...All formerly exempt schools will receive an initial inspection under section 5 or section 8 before 1 August 2025."
