After generating a huge range of reactions last year during the sprint to the Super Bowl, the Cincinnati Bengals were right back at it again during a season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
And not for all the best reasons, either.
Those Bengals stumbled out of the gates and put up four turnovers in the first half alone, with only a strong defensive showing keeping the game close.
The game then had multiple chances to actually end in the fourth quarter and then throughout an overtime that went right down to the buzzer.
Here are the best reactions to the rollercoaster of a game.
Season openers that go to overtime.
It’s a thing. Embrace the insanity. #Bengals

Opening up all question marks about Zac Taylor. Holding the team back…. again

Just unbelievable. And that was the difference. Left them an extra 10 – 12 seconds. https://t.co/FovlSP4a04

I was able to watch while at my son's game.
They completely deserved to lose that game. As sloppy as you can play.

Clock management over and over again… why did they snap the last punt with 20+ on the clock? I have so many questions

That is the worst game i've seen from Joe Burrow in a Cincinnati Bengals uniform.
And I can't think of a close second. Maybe the Bears game last year.

Bengals gave it all away and their long snapper got hurt.
The better team doesn't always win.
— Patrick Judis (@PatrickJudis) September 11, 2022
So to sum this one up, Burrow’s not right physically (although he’s still so tough mentally that he gave the Bengals a chance to win), Taylor is an in-game dunce (that’s beyond questioning at this point; the culture is great, he deserves credit for that, but he’s a uniquely awful

Bad clock management: The #Bengals lost to the #Steelers on a 53-yard FG with no time left.
Cincy played for the tie when they punted with 1:03 left. They still had 15 more seconds to milk on the play clock.
That was the deciding factor in this game. pic.twitter.com/wmvYJ8qufV

– Not challenging the Chase reception that was a TD
– Not leaving the offense on the field on 3rd and 8 in OT
– Punting the ball with 15 on the play clock in OT
– 5 TurnoversThe mistakes were compounded in that game by coaches and players alike. Not gonna win that way.

We need to have a conversation @Bengals pic.twitter.com/oPHjBXyMDG

To recap the end of this game:
— Bengals tie the game on the final play of regulation
— Game-winning PAT gets blocked
— Bengals miss game-winning FG in OT
— Steelers doink the game-winning FG and miss it, tooAnd there's still one part of this yet to be written.

The Steelers and Bengals are playing in the most AFC North football game of all time

Steelers Bengals game
— Carlos (@TheFeebleEmpire) September 11, 2022
The Bengals deserved that loss. The offense was a complete embarrassment.

I think the ceiling for the Bengals is very high.
One game shouldn’t dissuade you from believing that.
I think today’s offensive performance and situational coaching were both very disappointing.
Talk to you from Twin Peaks in West Chester tomorrow.
Tons to discuss.

Bengals did everything in their power to lose the game and we did just that …. Bounce back next week
