The Cincinnati Bengals announced the change of their official chili partner for the first time in decades, which registered as pretty major news in the tri-state area.
It also strangely drummed up huge reactions beyond the local scene, too.
The Bengals probably helped garner this type of reaction by announcing the change from Gold Star to Skyline chili with custom graphics and such on social media channels.
Still, it was pretty funny to sit back and watch something like a chili sponsorship dominate the news cycle this close to an NFL draft.
As such, here’s a look at the best reactions to the team’s big announcement.
It's Skyline Time in The Jungle‼️

Seemed like a good Dey to rock this hat and this pullover to this place.

Over the last two years, new uniforms, practice bubble, ring of honor, playoff wins, Super Bowl trip and now a new chili. #Bengals

Celebrated the news of @Skyline_Chili and the @Bengals with 2 cheese coneys (no onion) in Hebron, KY! I wonder if "Nancy" will ask me if I stopped at Skyline on the way home? 🤪@espn1530 @tony_pike15 @autyelmore @MoEgger pic.twitter.com/oBOt2eXFLr

Joe Burrow in 2020 on @PardonMyTake: "It's disgusting. I hate it."
But (in Keith Morrison voice)…
Joe Burrow later said he would give @Skyline_Chili another try.
Did he? Has anyone done the dirty work to follow up? #Bengals pic.twitter.com/ubWnm0yOsc

Last month: Skyline replaced Gold Star at CVG after 20ish years.
This month: Skyline replaces Gold Star as the Bengals’ official chili after over 20 years.
I love Skyline, but you gotta feel bad for Gold Star. 😅

I need a deep dive into how the chili wars to sponsor the Bengals went down. This could be a Pulitzer-worthy investigative piece. https://t.co/igbviLczpz

I used to say the Bengals would never win a super bowl until they got rid of gold star. What if the chili curse is broken in Skyline’s first year? https://t.co/HRK6eHpJXY

changing chili sponsors isn't the major news I was expecting regarding the Bengals

This was arguably the biggest position of need for the Bengals. They have been playing with inferior chili for years and they finally made the upgrade to a superstar. Super bowl bound. https://t.co/KvDPswvZSD
