While fans of the Boston Celtics likely hoped to see the former Alabama player on the court with the parent club more than they did in 2022-23, the Celtics’ second-round pick in the 2022 NBA draft, JD Davison, still logged plenty of time playing in Portland with the Maine Celtics, Boston’s affiliate in the G League.
Davison had a solid first season as a two-way player, exceeding limited expectations set for the raw prospect. The Alabama native averaged 13.5 points per game on 49.8% field goal percentage and a work-in-progress 29.9% from 3 to go, He averaged 4.6 rebounds per game (quite a few for a floor general) and 7.7 assists per game in 45 G League contests.
