Best Mother’s Day hampers to spoil her rotten

Mother’s Day is earlier than usual in 2024; this year the date to know is March 10

This means the heat is on to find the perfect, spoil-her-rotten gift ready to wrap up for Mothering Sunday, alongside flowers and breakfast in bed. Because if one person in your life deserves it, it’s your mum.

When do other countries celebrate Mother’s Day?

Various countries mark the occasion of Mothering Sunday on different days.

The UK always holds it on the fourth Sunday of Lent, which is March 10 this year, coincidentally a date also celebrated in Mexico, El Salvador and Guatemala. Meanwhile the majority of the Middle East honours matriarchs on March 21.

Across the Atlantic, countries like the US, Canada, Australia and India honour mums and mother figures on May 12. These nations always celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday of May.

Why does the UK celebrate Mother’s Day on a different day?

Our dates differ from the rest of the world because they are linked to Easter, which shifts slightly depending on the lunar calendar. Either way, there’s not long left to secure the perfect gift for your number-one gal.

What to buy for Mother’s Day

You've known her all your life, and still, the challenge of thinking of a knockout gift is a yearly struggle. Stop assaulting your brain cells, because the answer couldn't be more simple: a hamper never fails to delight.

Stuffed to the gills with all sorts of goods, from chocolate and tea to the latest beauty products that she would get herself, a cute wicker hamper full of goodies makes the perfect treat and shows her just how much you care.

Plus, they’ll be delivered straight to her door to save you hauling it over yourself. Paired with a lovely bunch of flowers and a natter over a cuppa (or something stronger, if you like), there will be no doubt as to who’s her favourite - yes, even if you’re an only child.

While we agree that celebrating mums and maternal figures is something that should be done the whole year around, having a dedicated Mother’s Day is a lovely chance to really push the boat out. And not just for her, but all the mother figures you cherish: aunts, grandmothers and close family friends deserve kudos too.

The good news is that there’s a vast selection of carefully curated hampers to shop from independent sellers to luxury brands and crucially, with price points across the board.

Whether she’s a foodie or a beauty fiend, there’s something for every kind of mum. We’ve rounded up the best out there to help find the right one for your mum a breeze.
