Where are you reading this? Is it on your phone or your laptop? If it’s the latter, did it load quickly or take an age for the simplest of online deals browsing?

If you’re tired of the spinning wheel of doom slowing your productivity, a new laptop purchase will make all the difference.

The trouble with buying a new laptop is the question of price. A fully specced out model can cost in the thousands so you have to consider your needs and find the one that is best suited. If you’re into gaming, look out for resolution and storage, while if you’re planning on working, see if it will come with all the apps you need, rather than paying an additional cost. For casual browsing, you can stick to the budget end of the spectrum.

Whether you’re an Apple MacBook devotee, a full Office Windows suite die-hard or the pared-back features of a Chromebook will do, you can get real bang for your buck by investing during a sales event.

You don’t have to wait till Black Friday either, which takes place each year at the end of November. The Amazon Prime Day sale is here and the online retailing giant has got us very excited.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day began as a one-day event way back in 2015 - hence the name. Over the years, it has doubled in size to become a two-day extravaganza. But that’s not where it ended. In years gone by, Prime Day took place in July, but then moved to October during the first year of lockdown. After the success of this new date, Amazon doubled up on the celebrations offering not one but two events last year in 2022. The retailer has since tripled its sales and there have been Prime discount days in March, July and now October.

What is the difference between Amazon Prime Day and Amazon Big Deal Days?

Here’s the thing: not much. If you have snapped some great deals in Prime Day sales in time gone by, you can expect the same during the Big Deal Days.

When is Amazon Prime Big Deal Days?

While the big Amazon Prime Day sale may have taken place already (back in July), the retailer has confirmed there will be another. Hurrah! The Big Deal Days is set to take place on October 10 and 11.

How to take part in Amazon Prime Big Deal Days

There is just one condition of the Amazon Prime Day sales. You must be a Prime member. For those of you who have been living under a rock and are unfamiliar with the retail giant’s Prime service, you’re in for a treat.

Not only does it give you access to the sale, but you get unlimited next-day delivery as well as Prime Video (so you can binge Daisy Jones & The Six, The Boys and many more exclusive shows), same-day grocery delivery, Amazon Music, early access to new books on Kindle and there’s an exclusive Try Before You Buy service too where (as the name suggests), you can check the item is right for you before you put down your card details.

What kind of laptop deals can we expect?

In the Prime Day sale back in July, there were discounts across HP, Samsung, Apple, Acer, ASUS, Dell, Huawei, Microsoft and more. The biggest reductions saw the Lenovo Ideapad slashed in price by £200, reductions across MacBooks and the most sought-after deal on the Microsoft Surface Pro 9.
