Meet the best friends who found out they were pregnant at the same time and gave birth to their babies on the same day - despite having different due dates. Maisie Campbell-White, 27, was studying nursing at University of Suffolk Ipswich, and working on placement with a community nursing team, when she met Morgan Hood, 29, a qualified nurse, in January 2020.
Morgan became Maisie's ‘mentor’ and while showing her the ropes at the community the pair struck up a close bond - becoming best mates. They both dreamed of starting a family and were overjoyed to discover they had fallen pregnant with their first child at the same time.
The expectant mums had their 12-week scans on the same day and shared their pregnancy journey every step of the way - Maisie discovered she was expecting a little boy and Morgan was having a little girl.
Even though their babies were due on different dates - a week apart - Maisie was induced early due to reduced movement and welcomed her little boy, Milo, on June 28, 2021, at 4am weighing 7lb 4oz at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
Morgan was also induced early due to reduced movement and welcomed her little girl, Ivy, later that same day at 12.32pm at Suffolk Hospital, Ipswich, weighing 6lb 14oz. The best friends now meet up every week with their babies and hope their tots will one day form as close a bond as the they have.
Maisie said: "It was amazing to find out we were both pregnant at the same time. Morgan is my best friend and we share everything with each other.
“It would be so cute if our children grew up together and became best friends - just like us.”
Maisie was studying to become a nurse when she first met Morgan - a qualified nurse - who was working with a community nursing team in Suffolk, Ipswich. Their friendship blossomed while working together over lockdown in March 2020.
Over the next two years, the best friends told each other they were hoping to start a family. In October 2020, the pair both found out they were both expecting their first baby - Morgan was first, closely followed by Maisie.
Morgan was due June 27, 2021 with partner, Louis, 28, a labourer, and Maisie was expecting her first child on July 2, 2021 with her boyfriend Max, 28, a dig-driver.
Morgan said: “I couldn’t believe it when I found Maisie was pregnant too. Maisie told me first - she came up and said: ‘I’ve got something to tell you’. I replied: ‘I’ve got something to tell you too’.
“She was the first person I told out of all my family and friends. It was even better knowing we were going to go through it all together.”
The best friends even had their scans on the same day, and both found the gender of the babies. Maisie was having a little boy and Morgan was expecting a little girl.
As the due dates grew closer, doctors noticed Maisie’s little boy had reduced movement. She was induced around 38 weeks at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, Norwich, and went into labour at 39 weeks in June 2021.
After spending week in hospital, Maisie welcomed her little boy Milo at 4am on June 28, 2021. Maisie said: “Morgan was just on the other end of the phone. We were texting each other the whole time and it was lovely to have her support.”
On the same day, Morgan was into Suffolk Hospital, Ipswich, and was also induced due to reduced movement. She welcomed her little girl, Ivy, just nine hours later at 12.32pm.
Morgan said: “Even though we were in different hospitals, we stayed in touch throughout. It was amazing to know our children shared the same birthday.”
Three weeks after the arrival of the babies, Morgan and Maisie were able to meet up for the first time. Now the pair see each other most weeks to take their children to the park or playschool together.
Morgan is now back at work as a community nurse and Maisie is due to start back up on her nursing course in September 2022. Maisie said: "I'm excited to get back into training. I'm hoping to work with Morgan again when I qualify.
"It's lovely knowing we can confide in each other, both during pregnancy and now as mums. Hopefully, our kids will be as close as we are."
Morgan added: “The support hasn’t stopped - we’ll be there for each throughout our babies’ lives. It's just the best experience to go through with your best friend.”
