Best caravans and camping holidays in Wales for the King's Coronation weekend

With King Charles set to be crowned next month, the country is looking forward to an extra Bank Holiday on Monday, May 8.

When the government announced last year that an additional bank holiday would take place to mark the Coronation, savvy shoppers took to the internet to book long weekends away, paying higher prices as the tourism industry cashes in on the bank holiday bonus.

Falling exactly one week after the traditional May Day weekend, some holidaymakers have even been able to combine the traditional May Day weekend with the royal bank holiday to score an impressive 10-day holiday break using just four days of annual leave.

Travellers who have left it to the last minute to enjoy a short staycation shouldn't be too disheartened though, as there are still good value mini-breaks available at destinations throughout Wales and beyond.

To make the most of the extra day, staycation somewhere closer to home to avoid busy airports and traffic jams, and look for somewhere with plenty to see and do, in case the Great British weather is less than kind on your days off.

We've compiled a round-up of some of the best and most unique destinations that still have availability at the time of writing.

Guests can choose to upgrade their caravan stay for an additional cost, and weekly rates in May start from £289.
