The holiday season is well and truly here as the weather across Europe starts to take a warmer turn. Whether you've got a long-weekend trip planned or a summer holiday booked there are plenty of beauty travel essentials worth packing, hand luggage and all.
Boots has been at the forefront of many shoppers' minds recently as the high street pharmacy and beauty retailer launched a new No7 range. The surprise launch caused its site to crash as thousands of people queued up to get their hands on the new products.
Consisting of a day cream, face serum and eye cream the new 'Future Renew' range features staple products for the average skincare routine and is likely to be an essential 'clear toiletry bag' product for many this spring and summer.
With so many products on offer, from staple moisturisers and body wash, to high-end perfume and bronzed make-up it can be tricky to know what is worth taking abroad with you. We've rounded up some of the best buys to take on your next holiday.
Hand-luggage-sized sun creams
For travellers with a limited amount of space
This small spritz sun cream from the brand Avène fits in hand luggage, so if you're only travelling with a carry-on you don't have to take up all your liquid allowance on sun cream.
At £4 it's one of the cheaper sun protection products on offer and can be used on both the face and body (without being to oily). If you're looking for a face-specific sun cream to wear under make-up then Boots also sell this Face Sun Cream priced at £18.20 for a 50ml bottle.
For a slightly cheaper alternative Boots sell its own No7 Protect and Perfect Intense Facial suncare, priced at £14.95 for a 50ml bottle. Again this would fit ideally in a handbag or clear see-through toiletry bag.
The essentials all in one
The Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Jet Set - £28
This product has soared in popularity since the brand bought out its body moisturiser, the 'Bum Bum' cream. Boots now offer three of the much-loved products from the brand in a travel set, in a clear see-through bag which could also come in handy to use in hand luggage.
Its regular tub of 'Bum Bum' creams are too big to fit in hand luggage at 150ml each, but the travel set includes a 50ml version of the Brazilian scented cream. Also included is a 90ml shower cream and 30ml spritz in the scent 'Brazillian Crush'.
Comfort travel essential
Boots Hybrid Travel Pillow - £10
It's a must-have item for many when travelling long distances, or for those looking to catch some sleep on the go. Travel pillows can cost as much as £30 each if bought at the airport, but Boot's sells an affordable option for just £10.
If you don't fancy clipping the pillow to the side of your hand luggage bag or carrying it around then shoppers could also find an inflatable version. This Boots travel pillow is £7.50 and can be blown up just like a pool float, and neatly packed when not needed.
Hair care packets
Flat-lay shampoo and conditioner
When it comes to hair care most shampoo and conditioner products come in chunk (and heavy) bottles, so taking on holiday to use a couple of times can be a pain.
Obviously, if you have a travel bottle set you could decant enough for your trip but this latest hair care product is a lifesaver for those who seem to never have enough space. Boots sell the Charles Worthington takeaway packets, shampoo and conditioner in a flat lay, resealable packet.
The Charles Worthington Sunshine Shampoo (75ml) cost £2.50 and Sunshine Conditioner cost £2.99 - similar to regular travel minis but the packaging takes up a lot less space.
A holiday scent
Michael Kors Amber Eau de Parfume - £33 for 50ml
Another 'must-have' essential that's easy to carry around and under the 100ml travel size (so it leaves room to buy duty-free on the way home).
We've chosen this one from Michael Kors, as not only is it a trusted scent from us, but the packaging makes it slim to fit. There's nothing worse than wanting to pack your favourite scent but the 'quirky' bottle makes it tricky to pack (like my favourite, Be Delicious by DKNY).
The selection of perfumes sold on Michael Kors' own site can also be found in quantities under 100ml.
Mini razor and case
Gillette Venus Snap Razor - £10.99
This small and compact razor from Venus would fit in many hand-luggage bags or hold suitcases. It's designed for 'on-the-go' and comes with a protective travel case which is a plus for keeping hygienic but also protected.
Its small size doesn't take away from its efficiency and it works just as well as any other 5-bladed Venus product, with skin protection and refills available.
The travel product also comes as a three-bladed razor, which is cheaper at £4.99.
Travel bottle set
Kitsch 11-piece set in blush - £10
Bottle sets are a must-have for many travellers on the go, used to decant liquids to save on space. Boots have a range of options ranging from £4 all the way up to £15 depending on what you're looking for.
This Kitsch set stood out as it contains two pump bottles, three travel pouches, a spray bottle and two cream jars - plus the fact it's in a blush pink colour which makes a welcomed change from the standard white ones.
The travel pouches are flat laying to give more room in the bag. If you're looking for a more affordable option this £4 Boots set has two bottles and two pots, with one spatula.
Shoppers on the lookout for mini travel products don't have to just shop at Boots, as a handful of other high street and online retailers offer similar products. ASOS is a popular 'go-to' for make-up minis and beauty sets and Look Fantastic offers a range of travel toiletries.
