Best and worst-case scenarios for Leeds United this weekend as relegation rivals lock horns

Leeds United know the next three fixtures in their Premier League campaign could define their survival status. Ahead of Manchester City's visit to Elland Road, the Whites have a five point gap to the bottom three, but 18th placed Everton have a game in hand on Jesse Marsch's outfit.

The Whites are set to face Arsenal and Chelsea in coming weeks before more favourable games against Brighton and Brentford at the end of the campaign. While their fate remains very much in their own hands, Marsch could do with a favour from some of their Premier League rivals before the curtain falls this season.

Aston Villa are set to host Norwich City this weekend, relegation rivals Burnley host Watford, while Frank Lampard's Everton host his former club Chelsea at Goodison Park. Leeds Live has taken a look at the best and worst case scenarios for the Whites this weekend.

Best case scenario

Aston Villa vs Norwich City - Away win

Burnley vs Watford - Away win

Everton vs Chelsea - Away win

Leeds vs Man City - Home win

Leeds United know they would need to cause quite the upset this weekend to come away with all three points, but stranger things have happened in football. A win for Norwich City and a Whites win, would see Marsch's side move level on points with the Villains.

If results go their way and Watford win at Burnley, Leeds would move further away from their nearest rivals in 17th. They'd also move eight points clear of the bottom three with just four games left in the campaign.

Worst case scenario

Aston Villa vs Norwich City - Home win

Burnley vs Watford - Home win

Everton vs Chelsea - Home win

Leeds vs Man City - Away win

If the above situations happen, Leeds will be right back in the mire. A win for Aston Villa would see them pull away from Marsch's side, with Steven Gerrard's Villains also boasting a game in hand on the Whites.

A win for Burnley would all but relegate Watford, along with Norwich who would be left with a mountain to climb. The Clarets could move level on points with Leeds and above them on goal difference.

The Whites would be out of the relegation zone on goal difference, but a win for Everton would see the gap to the relegation zone cut to two points, with the Toffees looking to capitalise on their game in hand.
