Best Allbirds trainers to invest in for winter

There really is nothing worse than going for a run or a walk (or just being outside in general) in wet weather and coming home with wet socks and soaked-through shoes.

This is why, when it comes to investing in a pair of trainers for the autumn and winter seasons – and, let’s be honest, spring too – it’s important to buy a pair that will keep your feet dry no matter the weather outside.

Allbirds’ best-selling trainers pride themselves on doing exactly that.

Two of its bestsellers, including the Wool Runner Mizzle and the Wool Runner Go, are all water-repellant trainers that are designed to protect your feet from getting wet in the rain.

(Allbirds)

They are made from ultra-soft Merino wool, meaning you can expect both warmth and breathability from the shoes, and there is an option to purchase many of these shoes as low- or high-tops.

There is also the Tree Dasher 2 that offers all-day comfort with performance credentials.

Besides the dry feet and comfortable shoes, a purchase from Allbirds is also one towards sustainability.

The team at Allbirds released its ‘flight plan’ in 2021, which looked to reduce its carbon footprint in half by the end of 2025, and then to zero by the end of 2030.

The end of 2023 saw a 22 per cent drop in its average global carbon footprint, meaning the label is well on track to meet its 2025 goal.

One of the major reasons for this is the brand’s use of merino wool in its shoes. The use of this wool means the production uses 60 per cent less energy than regular synthetic material trainers.

Plus, they work with organisations such as ZQ Merino to ensure that the wool it uses is held to high standards of farming, land management and animal welfare.

Other materials used in the shoe-making process include recycled plastic bottles (one bottle equates to one pair of Allbirds’ laces), and its packaging is made from 90 per cent recycled cardboard.

So, for shoes that will keep your feet cosy and dry, and for those that prefer their purchases to be eco-minded, read on for our picks of the best Allbirds’ trainers to invest in this chilly season.
