Best alcohol free ciders taste tested for a delicious 0% tipple

Going booze-free has extended far beyond Dry January resolutions.

More and more Brits are choosing to skip the booze without sacrificing the social vibe of after-work drinks and happy hour. How? By choosing low and no options instead.

The drinks category has exploded in recent years. The National Institute for Health and Care Research has published data showing a rise in low and no alcohol sales, with the market worth £221 in 2021 and continuing on an upward trajectory.

We all stand to gain from cutting alcohol consumption. Better physical health and mental well-being, less money down the drain and more ways for those abstaining for myriad reasons - pregnancy, faith, teetotalers - to join the party.

Booze-free options can be found everywhere, from wine and spirits like gin and whisky to beer and cider.

Nancy Dales, Kopparberg's brand manager said: “People’s attitudes are changing towards drinking due to many factors some of which being health and wellness, mindful drinking movements and the availability of product. Social norms are also changing and the stigma around not drinking alcohol is decreasing, so we’re seeing an increase in people purchasing our alcohol-free alternatives.

What is the difference between alcoholic cider and alcohol-free cider?

“The difference between our alcoholic cider and alcohol-free cider is that fermentation is stopped at an earlier stage to prevent excess alcohol formation. We’re always looking at new product development and have some exciting things lined up for 2025 and 2026.”

Kopparberg is only one of a few cider brands following beer’s lead and putting no-alcohol bottles and cans on the table. We’ve rounded up the others to make your next mindful choice much easier to make.
