It seems like the future of Frenkie de Jong has been at the heart of the whole transfer window with so many deals linked to the Barcelona midfielder’s future.
For now it seems we are pretty much where we started but could another club be about to start things rolling with a loan bid. Whether he decides to leave behind his huge wage packet at the Nou Camp is another matter and he has shown no signs of budging from his position.
But there are still a few days left for things to hot up in Europe. Here Mirror Sport brings you the best of the continent's transfer news, rumours and gossip
Bayern want De Jong loan
It may seem unlikely, but sources in Spain are suggesting Bayern Munich may yet offer De Jong a way out of Barcelona. The midfielder, a long held target for Manchester United, is happy to stay put at the Nou Camp despite the club wanting his massive wages off their books. Now the Bundesliga champions are reportedly considering a loan move with option to buy, similar to the deal which took Phillipe Coutinho to Bavaria three years ago.
Bernando house hunting
De Jong’s departure is seen as the key to unlocking Barca’s attempt to bring No. 1 target Bernardo Silva to the Nou Camp. And sources in the Catalan capital are suggesting that the Portuguese midfielder’s girlfriend is ahead of the game, planning a property search in the city in the coming days. It’s been quoted that while the player is keen on the move, Manchester City have no intention of budging from their £85million valuation Barcelona are well aware they need to get De Jong out before even considering a move for the City man.
