The 74th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, also known as Berlinale, is currently captivating audiences with a showcase of over 280 films from 80 different countries. The event, running until 25th February, has drawn international stars and celebrities, creating a vibrant and culturally diverse atmosphere.
At the festival's opening, a stunning array of international and local figures graced the red carpet at the theatre at Potsdamer Platz. The fashion choices of the attendees added an extra layer of glamour to the event, with many opting for outfits from renowned fashion houses.
The main competition for the prestigious Golden Bear Award began with the screening of 'Small Things Like These', a literary adaptation featuring actors Cillian Murphy and Emily Watson. Murphy, known for his role in the historical film 'Oppenheimer', arrived in an all-black suit paired with a mottled brown wool coat by Versace. Watson exuded sophistication in a simple suit inspired by the androgynous style of German film icon Marlene Dietrich, complemented by vibrant yellow trainers from Onitsuka Tiger.
Actress Luise Helm showcased a unique look in a transparent mesh top with floral embroidery by Berlin-based label Kasia Kucharska, paired with black pleated trousers. Meanwhile, Heike Makatsch opted for a playful pale pink dress from Stockholm's Teurn Studios, accentuated with black accessories, including a clutch by Jérôme Dreyfuss.
Model and actress Toni Garrn turned heads in a neon yellow gown by H&M, featuring a corsage and voluminous flounces. The ensemble was completed with white gold diamond earrings from Swiss jeweller Bucherer. Lupita Nyong'o, the festival's jury president and acclaimed actress, stunned in a crisp white silk dress by Gucci, adorned with rhinestone embellishments.
Jannis Niewöhner and Jasmine Trinca chose understated yet elegant looks from Prada, with Niewöhner sporting a satin bomber jacket and Trinca donning a ruffled waist dress. Jella Haase, star of the series 'Kleo', flaunted an asymmetric poplin blouse from Dior's SS24 collection, paired with a beige skirt featuring abstract black floral motifs.
