Bentley to launch one pure-electric vehicle every year from 2025

Luxury car maker Bentley has revealed plans to launch a pure-electric vehicle every year from 2025 to 2030.

The 'Five-in-Five' plan was outlined as part of its Beyond100 strategy which will also include a £2.5bn investment in "sustainability" over the next 10 years.

The Crewe-headquartered company also confirmed that the full Bentley range will be battery-powered electric vehicle-only by 2030.

Bentley added that among its latest initiatives will be an extension of on-site energy production at Crewe, aiming to increase the number of solar panels from 30,000 to 40,000 in the next two years.

The company is also investigating using sustainable biofuel in fleet cars, including its heritage collection.

Bentley said it is anticipated that more than 20% of sales this year will come from its hybrid cars.

Chairman and CEO Adrian Hallmark said: "Simultaneously accelerating our Beyond100 strategy and securing BEV production at Crewe, alongside a £2.5bn investment, makes this a major landmark in Bentley’s 102-year history.

"It is a shining light for the Bentley family, our suppliers and partners, as well as the automotive industry and UK manufacturing as a whole.

"This latest announcement regarding Bentley’s Beyond100 plan confirms the initiation of a major transformative phase in the company’s long and illustrious history.

"The world is changing and we need to play our part in neutralising our environmental impact.

"That means delivering on our aim to be end-to-end carbon neutral by 2030, and reaffirming our role as the leader in sustainable luxury mobility."

The news comes after Bentley reported a jump in sales of more than 30% for 2021 to a new record level.

The company posted total sales of 14,659 cars over the last calendar year, a rise of 31% from 11,206 in 2020.

The Volkswagen Group-owned brand said the "significant achievement" was driven by new model introductions, a fresh product portfolio and increasing demand for Bentley’s new hybridised models.
