‘The Destroyer’ last fought in Liverpool in December, when he once again showcased his formidable power with a brilliant stoppage of veteran American Chris Algieri.
The next step on what Benn hopes is a journey to global superstardom and world title challenges is a clash with former IBO champion Van Heerden.
The experienced South African - the first southpaw Benn has faced at the pro level - has not stepped into the ring since December 2020, when a nasty cut forced a very premature end to his bout against another superstar-in-waiting in Jaron Ennis.
