BENGALURU: A team of city students bagged a spot among the top 50 semifinalists of Wharton Global High School Investment Competition. The group of class 11 students, called Team Comrades, was selected from among 1,300 teams across the world.
It is an annual contest for high school teachers and students run by the Wharton Global Youth Program of Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. The six members of Team Comrades are Anushka Dalal, Aryan Dixit, Arundhati Satyam, Atharv Kaushik, Shaina Dulles (National Public School, HSR Layout, Bengaluru), and Yuv Verdia (DPS Khajaguda, Hyderabad). They had to prepare a creative investment strategy for their client as part of the competition.
Anushka told TOI the team invested in stocks with the objective of funding the educational needs of their client as per her financial goals in case study and risk appetite. “We identified the stocks with a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis. We scanned through 515 stocks and filtered them down to 27. We covered all her (client’s) financial requirements over the course of a well-drawn-out 15-year plan,” she said.
Aryan said the team often held calls past midnight, balancing school work.
The semifinal results will be posted on Wharton Global Youth Program website in March. The grand prize winner will be out on April 23.
