Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses to queue up at private fuel stations

BENGALURU: Don't get rattled if a bulky BMTC bus pulls up behind or next to your vehicle at a fuel station. Going forward, BMTC buses will fill up on diesel at private bunks across the city to beat the skyrocketing fuel prices.

With the price of crude oil shooting up because of changing global dynamics and the government not extending subsidy to bulk buyers, including the state transport corporations such as BMTC, the latter have decided to source fuel from retailers. "It is much cheaper to fill up on diesel at a private bunk than to get it at our own depots," a BMTC official said, while admitting that the deepening diesel crisis has been taking a toll on the corporation's finances.
