BENGALURU: A 32-year-old financier has been arrested for allegedly using a fake number plate for his scooter that has 55 traffic violation cases pending against it, with fines amounting to Rs 28,500. The accused is Nikhil R, a resident of Pattegarapalya, near Vijayanagar. Police said he allegedly showed his middle finger to them whenever they tried to catch him for traffic violations.
"We have collected at least 10 photos of him showing the middle finger to police. He did so at traffic junctions in Vijayanagar, Govindarajanagar and Basaveshwaranagar," a cop said. Flagged down by Vijayanagar traffic police for rash riding on Sunday morning at Marenahalli junction, he had taken to his heels, leaving his vehicle behind. Police, however, found that Nikhil, a resident of Pattegarapalya near Vijayanagar, was using a fake number plate for his scooter as there were 55 cases pending against it.
Police said his original registration number was KA02JG 9381. But he affixed to his vehicle a plate bearing the number KA02J 938 as he wanted to avoid being hauled up for the previous cases.
