BENGALURU: A gang of four, including three minors, allegedly tied up a 21-year-old man and beat him up through the night of June 13 till he died at a building in HAL 3rd Stage.
JB Nagar police initially registered a case of suspicious death after a decomposed body was found in the building on June 17. It was turned into a murder case based on a complaint by a security agency employee on Tuesday. The autopsy report confirmed the murder. The deceased has been identified as Susheel, who had come to Bengaluru a few months ago in search of a job. Police arrested Sagar, a 22-year-old security guard from Nepal, for the murder.
Police said Susheel had approached a security agency for a job and was rejected for not providing his ID proof. He came in contact with Sagar, who was working at the three-storeyed building, which was seized by a bank for non-payment of loan.
Susheel used to visit Sagar at the building at HAL 3rd Stage and Sagar noticed him stealing valuables. Sagar warned him and this sparked arguments between them. Sagar then sought help from three of his minor friends to teach Susheel a lesson.
They tied him up with a rope around 11.30pm on June 13 and assaulted him with a belt, wooden stick and cutting plier till morning. Susheel died the next day. The group left the body in the building and absconded.
The incident came to light on June 17, after security firm staff visited the building as Sagar was not picking up calls from his office. Police traced the suspects in Begur on Wednesday. Sagar was arrested while the minors were sent to a juvenile home.
