Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor is on the receiving end of some massive praise following his team’s win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
No wonder: His team has now won two games in a row with backup Jake Browning under center in place of injured star Joe Burrow.
Over the course of those two games, Browning has thrown for 629 yards and three touchdowns, rushing for two more scores, too.
While other coaches like coordinator Brian Callahan and quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher also deserve droves of praise, it’s Taylor at the forefront in the minds of both media and fans.
Here’s a look at some of that praise as Taylor’s offense has the Bengals right in the thick of the playoff race.
Coach of the Week
NBC Sports’ Peter King named Taylor the coach of the week due to Browning’s showing over the last two games:
Zac Taylor, head coach, Cincinnati. The Bengals were on a three-game losing streak a week ago this morning, its franchise QB out for the season, hope of any sort in short supply. The head coach’s job is to keep his team out of the tank, number one. Number two: As play-caller, his job is to get the backup ready to play December football for a team still in the playoff race. What a job Taylor did (along with QB coach Dan Pitcher and coordinator Brian Callahan) in prepping Jake Browning to play Monday-Sunday games against contenders, and to win, and to score 68 points with Joe Burrow watching from the sideline.

Another good game from Jake Browning. Dude has been on a heater the past two weeks and has the Bengals firmly in playoff contention. Credit to Zac Taylor for putting together a highly efficient offense as well. Feel like he's letting Browning cook but also giving him easy buttons

Watching Zac Taylor turn into the worlds best best play caller is something

It was really smart for Zac Taylor to actually give the ball to Chase Brown

Gotta give Zac Taylor his credit. If you're still hating after these past few weeks idk what to tell you. Does he make some suspect play calls at times? Yes, he does. I've been the first to critize him. But he's leading this team to a potential playoff run w/o Burrow. pic.twitter.com/OLJc5jT4Gy

Zac Taylor is criticized heavily at times but I think he deserves equal praise for putting an offensive plan around Jake Browning to keep this football team in the hunt. 🐅
