Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor wasn’t interested in discussing the reported trade request from offensive tackle Jonah Williams on Monday as offseason activities started.
Asked about Willaims’ situation, Taylor kept the answer short and sweet.
“I’ll keep all that stuff private, about conversations with my players,” Taylor said.
Taylor had previously told reporters at the league’s owner meetings recently that the expectation remains that Williams will compete for the starting right tackle job.
Notably, though, Williams was one of the big names absent at the start of voluntary programs on Monday.
Williams’ trade request came after the Bengals signed Orlando Brown Jr. to play left tackle, which shifts the former first-rounder to the right side, where he’ll compete with La’el Collins and others.
