Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins provided a positive injury update on his ribs as the team heads to a bye week.
He also said he’s looking forward to coming back better on the field after the break, too.
“We’re trying to get back to what we’ve been doing the past two years and back to who we are,” Higgins said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “Personally, I could be better and I’m looking forward to doing that. Coming down with the 50-50 balls. I could definitely be better and looking forward to coming back better than ever.”
Higgins is certainly under the spotlight right now for his brutally slow start to the season, which has him at 14 catches for 149 yards and two scores, most of that output coming in a single game.
Expectations for Higgins (and the offense as a whole) were huge entering the season considering he’s playing on the final year of his deal and will land a massive contract from the Bengals or otherwise next summer.
Sporadic play, in part due to Joe Burrow playing through a calf injury, plus a rib injury of his own, though, has led to a disappointing start. But like Burrow and the rest of the offense, there’s plenty of reason to think Higgins can bounce back in a big way after the bye week.
