When it comes to NFL fines, the Cincinnati Bengals just can’t stay out of the news.
The latest fined Bengals star is defensive end Trey Hendrickson.
Hendrickson received a $16,883 fine from the NFL for roughing the passer due to a hit and keeping his body weight on Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackosn last week.
On the play, Hendrickson hit Jackson quickly after the quarterback’s throw, then followed through onto the ground. Fans might remember it as the play in which Jackson refused Hendrickson’s help getting up off the turf.
It looks like a bang-bang play, but the league wants defenders to roll or find another way to avoid putting all of their weight on a passer going to the ground, for better or worse.
Hendrickson will likely appeal, but he also likely doesn’t have a great shot at winning it.
The Baltimore Banner’s Jonas Shaffer provided a look at the play:
Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson was fined $16,883 for this roughing-the-passer infraction (body weight) vs. Lamar Jackson on Sunday.
Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase was also fined $19,697 for a "violent gesture" after his 41-yard TD in the 2nd quarter.

Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase also got hit with a fine letter from that game, with the mystery fine apparently being related to a “violent gesture” he made during a touchdown celebration. This week, Chase also lost an appeal over the massive fine he received from earlier this season.
