Cincinnati Bengals running back Samaje Perine has agreed to sign a contract with the Denver Broncos in free agency.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Perine gets a two-year, $7.5 million deal from the Broncos.
Perine seemed like a player who could rejoin the Bengals after a trip to the market. The fate of Joe Mixon with the team remains an unknown and Perine filled in exceptionally well in spot duty and was a key part of the offense in critical situations due to his superiority over Mixon as a pass-blocker.
Denver’s gain is Cincinnati’s loss, as they won’t have Perine to fall back on in the rotation if they choose to add a rookie via the draft.
This leaves the Bengals in a bind, likely requiring they reach into a deep free agency class for a new name while also bumping it up the draft board as a need.
