The Cincinnati Bengals dug themselves a big hole with the Week 10 loss to the Houston Texans and some of the news coming out of the game shows it well enough.
Not only did the Bengals lose to fall to 5-4, but they lost Trey Hendrickson to injury on one of the very last plays of the game.
Tack on reactions and a ton of post-game quotes from a team searching for answers and the news flowed right after the loss, to say the least.
Plus, of course, the team has the AFC North showdown against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.
Here’s a look at the must-know Bengals news, notes and quotes for November 13.
Trey Hendrickson injured -- Bengals Wire
Hendrickson, the team’s only reliable pass-rusher, went down and needed the help of trainers to leave the field after getting rolled-up on late. He’d be seen in the locker room heading for an MRI.
Update: Hendrickson suffered a hyperextended knee and will miss time.
Reactions -- Bengals Wire
Here’s how fans and general media reacted to the loss right after the game went final.
Ja'Marr Chase comments -- Bengals.com
In an interview with CLNS Media’s Mike Petraglia, Chase revealed he’s feeling fine so far health-wise after entering the game as questionable due to a back injury. And while he praised the Texans for covering them well — and doubling him up often — he stressed that the offense as a whole needs to be much more consistent.
Joe Burrow on Tyler Boyd's drop -- Bengals.com
On the subject of Tyler Boyd dropping what would have perhaps been the game-winning touchdown, Burrow said this: “We wouldn’t have even been down there if it wasn’t for him. Obviously, you’d like to come down with it, but we were able to go down there and tie it up. [We would have] liked to punch it in, make them go down and score a touchdown in that situation, but we were able to tie it up.”
Zac Taylor on missing Tee Higgins -- Bengals.com
Here’s Bengals head coach Zac Taylor on what the absence of Tee Higgins meant: “It’s just the NFL, (being in) Week 9, or whatever week it is. That’s just the way it goes. Some guys are going to be able to practice (and) some guys aren’t. I didn’t think anything felt too unique. Our guys behind Ja’Marr were ready to go. Those guys welcomed the opportunity and we were ready to use them.”
