Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan will get at least one additional crack at a head coaching job this offseason.
That started on Monday, with NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reporting that the Carolina Panthers have requested an interview with Callahan for their vacant head coach position.
Those Panthers went 2-15 this year and fired head coach Frank Reich in November and general manager Scott Fitterer on Monday. A new head coach would inherit 2023 No. 1 pick Bryce Young at quarterback but no first-round selection in 2024.
Callahan, an instrumental part of Joe Burrow’s development, installs and the overall offense in Cincinnati, has been a hot name on the market for years now. Last year, he was eliminated late in the running for jobs in Indianapolis and Arizona.
