Benefit show organised for much-loved Ballyfermot couple injured in traffic collision

A benefit show has been organised for a much-loved Ballyfermot couple who were injured in a reported "traffic collision".

On Saturday March 5, Mick and Michelle Cardiff were walking home when two cars collided at the corner of Drumfinn Road and Drumfinn Avenue.

One of the cars lost control and mounted the path where the couple were walking.

The friendly pair suffered "life changing injuries" during the accident.

Mick has had one of his legs amputated and both he and Michelle have undergone numerous surgeries

The community have since rallied around the popular couple and their family.

Mick and Michelle Cardiff's house will now need to be adapted for their needs.

Ballyfermot paramedic, Michael Cardiff is a much-loved member of the community (St John Ambulance- Ballyfermot Division)

Many feel that this is Ballyfermot's chance to repay the couple back for all they have done in the community.

Mick is a paramedic with St John's Ambulance, a divisional superintendent and a man who was always determined to pass on his knowledge to new volunteers.

The benefit show will take place in Tim Young's pub on Friday, 27 May.

Tickets will cost €10 with lots of talented acts set to take to the stage.

Spot prizes will also be available on the night.

In March, Conor McGregor made a generous donation of €20,000 to a GoFundMe for the couple.

Locals are now equally eager to get behind the next fundraising event.

One person said: "What a great way to show them what the people of Ballyfermot are."

Another wrote: "Such a lovely couple. Great that Ballyfermot are coming together for them."

A third person commented: "Great man good luck."
