Beneficial Rain in West Africa Pressures Cocoa Prices

July ICE NY cocoa (CCN25) Wednesday closed down -105 (-1.08%), and July ICE London cocoa #7 (CAN25) closed down -56 (-0.85%).

Cocoa prices on Wednesday retreated to 2-week lows.  Cocoa prices were under pressure due to forecasts for favorable rain in West Africa, which is expected to aid cocoa crop development in the world's largest cocoa-growing region.  Meteorologist Vaisala said that moderate showers are expected to continue through this week in the cocoa-growing regions of West Africa.
