Benedict Cumberbatch's sweary response as he's told he looks like Ali G in photoshoot

Benedict Cumberbatch has hit out at those who have compared him to Ali G after he wore a yellow outfit for a recent photo shoot.

The actor, 45, was snapped wearing a yellow bucket hat, tinted yellow glasses and a floral grey and yellow polo shirt.

He also sported a goatee as he sat holding onto a stem of daisies in the pics by Tim Walker for W Magazine.

However, fans were quick to compare the Power of the Dog star to Sacha Baron Cohen 's character Ali G on social media.

One Twitter user wrote: "now why did they dress Benedict Cumberbatch as Ali G."

Another agreed, posting the pic and saying: "This is a real photo of Benedict Cumberbatch. He has got pretty angry in interviews when people have said he looks like Ali G. But here’s the problem. *Whispers* he actually, really does, look JUST LIKE Ali G. #awks"

The user's comment comes after Benedict exclaimed: "F**** the piss takers," when asked about the comparison by Times Radio.

"I’d love to know what their version of a good photograph would be," he continued.

He went on to say although it's not his usual style, he'd do "anything" for Tim.

He said: "You won’t be seeing me walking around in a Fendi bucket [hat], or whatever it was, anytime soon.

"Or a ten-gallon hat that doesn’t fit my rather large head anyway . . . But I’d do anything for Tim, I really would."

The images come after the revelation of how Benedict's feud with The Responder actor Martin Freeman began.

The pair played inseparable friends Sherlock Holmes and Doctor John Watson for four series, although many believe there would have been another if the two leads had actually got on.

They reportedly didn't spend any time together in between shooting scenes and didn't develop any kind of friendship during their time on the show.

In 2017, a source told the Sun: "Benedict and Martin aren't mates and they don't spend time together away from the show.

"They're professional and very polite to each other but there's not the warmth you'd expect after filming together for six years. There isn't a huge desire to come back for another season."

Their "frosty relationship" has mostly been kept under wraps, but it's now been exposed that it began when one was labelled "pathetic" by the other.

The Office star had described his unhappiness with the intense fan attention that was generated by Sherlock - an opinion Benedict did not agree with.

In 2018. Benedict slammed his former co-star's comments and said: "I’m very grateful for the support, but that’s about it. It takes on its own thing. But that happens with every franchise or entity like this.

"It’s pretty pathetic if that’s all it takes to let you not want to take a grip of your reality. What, because of expectations? I don’t necessarily agree with that."
